Overview
Research Focus
The overall goal of our research is to understand the fundamental biology of plant-nematode interactions with a specific emphasis on the interactions between potato cyst nematode (Globodera rostochiensis and G. pallida) and potato. Specific research areas include: 1) function of nematode effectors, 2) mechanisms of CLE mimicry in cyst nematode parasitism, and 3) conventional and engineered resistance to potato cyst nematodes.
Outreach and Extension Focus
Potato cyst nematodes are quarantine pests. Our program provides scientific and technical support to USDA-APHIS nematode quarantine programs implemented in New York and Idaho.
