Welcome to the Section of Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology

Bill Fry with students The Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology Section of the School of Integrative Plant Sciences has been an active center of investigation for more than a century and boasts an impressive legacy of scholarship in research and education in topics such as pathogenesis, plant-associated microbes, and sustainable methods to suppress plant disease. Our faculty and staff have a rich history of developing leaders in plant biology throughout the world, and our alumni remain engaged and in close contact with each other and department faculty.

We offer a range of undergraduate and graduate courses that address the biology and management of pathogens and the infectious diseases they cause.  While we devote the most effort to plant disease, our basic research questions relate to host-pathogen interactions across many taxa. Our faculty members work in Geneva, Ithaca, the Hudson Valley, and on Long Island.

This website is a gateway to information about our faculty members, students, and staff; the range of courses offered by the section; and information for growers about plant disease, including how to submit a plant sample for diagnosis.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Professor Adam Bogdanove may also be contacted with questions about the graduate education program.
